Toilet’s aren’t supposed to fly. But because of complex issues surrounding land tenure, political will, and economic incentives, they still do in the settlement of Kibera and in many other slums in Nairobi. Life can be better for the millions of people living with such hardships, and many residents and organizations from local youth and government groups, to international health and religious bodies are actively working towards improving the quality of life for residents in developing cities. About the media campaign
The posters that led you here are part of a campaign intended to draw attention to both the difficult living conditions in Kibera, as well as the innovative efforts taking place to improve them. We started this campaign with youth groups in Kibera and the Kounkuey Design Team to create, publish, and disseminate these posters in public places around Nairobi – so far they’re up at Nakumatt, Odeon stage, Ya Ya center, Sarit Centre, Uhuru Park, Alliance Francais, and the various universities around town. If you would like posters to post in your place of business or in your neighborhood contact us at email@example.com
