august 2nd, the k.p.s. team presented the idea of a public space project to a group of about 35 men and women living adjacent to the site. ibra + nick, with assistance from chairman sammy, did a great job communicating the ideas to the people. there were lots of questions, but almost uniform enthusiasm for the project! in particular, the women were interested in building the composting toilet in the first phase of the project, but were also interested in the flooding control, composting, and water hyacinth weaving. one man suggested that the group start meeting weekly on thursdays and set up a committee for “people who are serious” to represent their interests, which they voted on and immediately set up.
