the surveyors took spot elevations in 10m intervals across the site – in about a 1 -1 1/2 acre area. there’s not much vertical change across the site (it slopes gently downwards toward the dam) but a small river does run approximately N|S through the site. the surveyors took careful measurements along this corridor so that any alterations to the river course can be done successfully. we found out that at the southern end of the site, the river has actually been diverted from it’s natural course. the community says that a local farmer did this because the water was disturbing his crops. we think that the water level rises about 1.2 m during the rainy seasons. thanks to atishe + aaron from engineers for a sustainable world for splitting the cost with us + for putting on the gum boots and helping out for the day!
