During workshops at St. Anthony, the community identified three major issues: lack of a central gathering space to house committee meetings and foster social cohesion, a safe recreation area for youth and affordable food accessibility. The Productive Public Space (PPS), in St. Anthony, which is currently in the participatory design phase addresses these needs of the community. In May, a committee of active community members was formed to manage the design, construction and maintenance of the PPS. The project focuses on creating a public space available for children’s activities, general community meetings and a community garden, including some needed landscaping and fencing. The PPS will serve to foster a more active, healthy, and unified community at St. Anthony.
