Tales From the Field: School painting week

The time in Kibera runs by really fast. Now is the end of the third week that we are here. Community meetings and working sites expanded. Today we managed to work in all three sites during the same day. Ideas come and go, decisions and discussions keep on changing plans, but that is all really interesting and challenging to face every day.
I and Ann, with local interns, keep on painting the school of site 1. We almost finished with the interior, and tomorrow we start painting the facade. It is so nice to see community members happy faces as the inside of the buildings get brighter and classrooms already have black boards and some nice colorful shelves. At the same time we are still trying to fix the water connection, and finally we got the approval for the security lights that are so important for the community and site to be secured during the night.
