Earlier this year, KDI celebrated the the launch of our fifth project in Gatekwera Village. This site, built near the Ngong River will become home to a community pharmacy, a school for children, and a sanitation block with three toilets and two showers. A remarkable feature of this site includes an original mural work by local artist Michigan, reflecting Kibera’s interaction with its people and with the city.
After a yearlong effort of community planning and design, local residents will move forward with the project, ensuring project benefits to the local community. The launch hosted a colorful dancing, much food, and many dignitaries. Stakeholders from the local administration spoke, encouraging and saluting the great work of KDI and the community in the site’s development.
