KDI Blog Lastest happenings and insights from KDI

This weekend KDI held a pre-design workshop with the community around (Kibera Public Space Project) KPSP07. While this project is moving quickly, we took time last weekend preparing the community for the project design phase, introducing the community to the construction team and engaging the children envisioning of what the space could be.

Julius Muiru, KDI Construction Co-ordinator, spoke about the role of the community in building the project.  Then, our friend and muralist from KPSP05 led a children’s art competition. The children were put into teams and asked to draw an image that depicted the programs they believed would be improve the site, making it a clean and beautiful space.

Michigan Art judged the teams, and because the competition was too close to call a clear winner, two everyone received something sweet.
